It might interest some of them. There are a few spots left. See you, Martha Hello Folk Music fans, We are very pleased to announce that our next house concert will be on Sunday February 15th and will feature local folk trio "Finest Kind". Bring your sweetie for a Valentine's treat, or celebrate Family Day a day early! Meet and socialize: 7:00 p.m. (Bring a beverage or snack to share if you like) Concert begins: 7:30 p.m. Cover charge: $15 - all proceeds go to the artists. Location: 1763 Heron Rd. Hosts: Jeannie and Iain Page RSVP: jeanniepage at igs.net "Finest Kind is the remarkable folk trio from Ottawa, Canada whose exquisite harmony singing and brilliant vocal arrangements are bringing a fresh sense of excitement and discovery to the performance of old songs. The trio's glorious sound, served up with easy-going humour, has won a devoted following across North America." We have enjoyed their music at the Ottawa Folk Festival and Rasputin's and are thrilled that they were willing to perform "Chez Pages". To read more about them check out their website at: http://www.finestkind.ca/finekind.html . From mylodon at hotmail.com Tue Feb 3 23:14:11 2009 From: mylodon at hotmail.com (Tom Lips) Date: Wed, 4 Feb 2009 04:14:11 +0000 Subject: [song-circle] Tom Shamelessly promotes "Plan B" for February 7th Benefit Concert! Message-ID: Dear Song Circle friends, In mid-January, while looking forward with great anticipation to my February 7th concert at the NAC 4th Stage, I caught some kind of tenacious flu-like virus which sidelined me for 10 days and left me with no voice for speaking, let alone singing. Despite observing monastic silence since January 18th, drinking plenty of fluids and taking every remedy I could think of, I discovered that vocal cords recover at their own pace and refuse to be hurried. When it became clear this week that there was no chance of getting my singing voice back by the 7th, ther organizers and I were ready to cancel the event, absorb the financial loss, and "suffer in silence." Most fortunately, a number of generous and talented musical friends have come to the rescue! The concert of my original songs will go ahead after all -- but instead of my voice interpreting the songs, you will hear the voices of several other performers from the Ottawa area who are paying me the great compliment of bringing my songs to life in their own ways; people such as Chris MacLean, Shelley Posen, David Keeble, Baba Yaga, and more. A friend in need is a friend indeed! What this means is that, instead of all our preparations producing only a hefty invoice for Achillea Endeavours (the charitable organization that sponsors Riverglen Farm), the benefit concert can still be of benefit! So I am urging and inviting all of you to come out this Saturday evening and enjoy my "Plan B" concert, hear my music in a new way, and support Riverglen Farm. You'll see me there (I won't chat with you, but I will smile...) Tickets are $18.00. available from the NAC Box Office or through Ticketmaster. Doors open at 7:30, concert begins at 8:00. Seating is unreserved, cabaret-style. (It's a really great place for an intimate concert.) Yours hoarsely, Tom Lips www.tomlips.ca Windows Live Messenger. Multitasking at its finest. How fun is this?
