I have attempted to retire this year, and in honour of that attempt, I'm inviting friends ( music buddies, work buddies, and the others!) to come to celebrate with me to an evening of Potluck and Playback. The ad is attached-- If you'd like to come, please just reply to me and I'll take that as your RSVP-- pot luck is at 6:oo pm and Playback starts at 7:30. We will be located in old Ottawa East-- when you reply, I'll send you the Exact Address! I don't always check my mail every day and didn't yesterday so didn't send the notice to the list. Any member can send messages to the list by sending them to: song-circle at lists.ifdo.ca This address is at the bottom of every message from the list server. I didn't know you were ill, and you did a wonderful job hosting. I guess we might need contingency plans for when people are ill or need to suddenly change plans, because email is not always practical on short notice. Maybe all the usual hosts should have each other's phone numbers and ask for backup if something comes up at the last minute, and a note can be put on the door to go somewhere else. Or a host can ask someone else to do the hosting duties at her house while she rests or goes out if that is a last minute need. Sometimes I used to host at Caroline's if she needed to be somewhere else, when I lived on Britannia Road. My phone number is in my signature. Call me if you need help. If you know where the old observatory is at the Experimental Farm, Maple Drive, which passes right by the observatory building on the farm, continues north of Carling as Irving Place. Our house is about a half block north of the observatory. For those who don't know that vital reference point, Irving Place is east of the Civic Hospital and west of Preston, just north off Carling, right where Carling starts going down the hill towards Preston and Dows Lake, or just at the top of the hill if you are heading west on Carling past Preston. If you want to see a map, go to: http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp?address=245+Irving+Place&city=Ottaw a&state=ON&country=CA&zoom=8 As usual, pot luck at 6:30, singing about 7:30, or so, folk time. The schedule now is: Dec 18 Dale & Susan Morland 2010 Jan 8 Susan Wheat Jan 22 Maura Volante Feb 5 available Feb 19 available Mar 5 available Mar 19 available Cheers Dale From carls at cyberus.ca Mon Dec 14 12:27:41 2009 From: carls at cyberus.ca (carls at cyberus.ca) Date: Mon, 14 Dec 2009 10:27:41 -0700 Subject: [song-circle] Morlands' Dec 18, 2009 In-Reply-To: <621701ca7cd0$3be95670$086a010a@mail2world.com> References: <621701ca7cd0$3be95670$086a010a@mail2world.com> Message-ID: <20091214102741.2725515dnllndxgk@webmail.cyberus.ca> Dear Song Circlers, Have a wonderful holiday - I'll see you in the New Year. I am giving my regrets to Dale and Susan for the Song Cirlce on the 18th because I'll be driving down to Washington DC where Isabelle and I will get together for here sister and brother-in-law's Christmas Party. I'm bringing the tux I wore at the Obama Inauguration Ball at the New Bayou in Ottawa! (It's that kind of a party.)
