[Contradancers] AGM and membership news

Hi everyone
Hope your summer is going well.

This is a notice about the Dance AGM coming up on August 4th at 7pm. We have combined both dance series and everything will now be under the name of the Old Sod Folk Music Society. There will be reports on finances, outreach, membership and operations and elections to the Board of Directors. We will hold the meeting at my house, 23 Warren Ave. in Ottawa.
If you are planning to attend can you please let me know at cathburns at sympatico.ca. We want to be able to plan properly for chairs and handouts.

On a related note, I wanted to remind you that you can now become a member of the Old Sod Society and receive a discount on every dance. Membership is only $25 and by joining you will save $2 at every regular contra dance - rather that paying $12 you will be paying $10. This adds up to quite a large saving if you attend most dances (19 dances this coming season).
You will receive an Ottawa Contra Dance name tag that you can wear at our dances or when you travel to other dance communities. You will also receive business cards to pass out to friends and others you meet who might be interested in contra dancing.
Finally, and very importantly, you will be contributing to the vibrancy and continuation of contra dancing in Ottawa.

To become a member, visit  www.ottawacontra.ca and click on membership. You can fill out the online form or print a paper copy. Then you can mail in your membership form and cheque ( made out to the Old Sod Folk Music Society) and send it to me at:

You can also join at any dance or at the AGM.
